31 Years Old Today...and starting over!

For the first time in 10 years, I woke up without my husband next to me on my birthday. I am 31 years old today...and starting over. It's not something I want to do...but I have no choice in the matter. So today started out pretty emotional. My 2 year old son was still asleep when I came downstairs to check my email. I had an interview earlier this week and I was hoping for some good news. Not good news, I didn't get the job. Okay, when one door closes another one opens.

So after I feed my baby boy breakfast and get myself ready, I load us up to take him to Mother's Day Out. The car felt funny when I was backing out of the driveway. You guessed it...I had a flat tire. So as my child was screaming at the top of his lungs I was trying to figure out how to get help from anyone other than my husband that recently abandoned me. I called Roadside Assistance and they came to my rescue. I did call the hubby to come and take my boy to Mother's Day Out while I was handling the flat tire situation. So my boy was upset that I didn't take him to Mother's Day Out and ended up vomiting all over my husband. I must admit I gained some pleasure from this event, not that my boy was upset, but that he emptied his stomach contents on the man that has betrayed me.

Keep in mind my whole week has been crazy. On Wednesday morning I went to take a shower before my MOPS (Mother of Preschoolers) meeting and there was no water. I started to panic thinking, "Did I forget to pay my bill?" Of course not, I am more responsible than that...at least most days. A hotel is being built close to where I live and they broke a water main line. So I decided I was not going to miss my MOPS meeting. A little creativity was in order. My son had a few wet wipes left that I use during diaper changes. So I wiped down with the wet wipes and shaved. I had a little bit of nursery water left over in the fridge, so I washed my bangs with it. I used my sons training toothpaste to brush my teeth because I didn't have any water to rinse with. After that experience I understand why he fights me every time I go to brush his teeth. Anyway I made it to my MOPS meeting, looking rough around the edges, but I was proud for overcoming my mini-drama.

I have decided to start this Blog for therapeutic reasons. Even if no one reads a word of what I write, it will help me to get my anger and hatred out. I don't like carrying all of these negative feelings around with me, so I am trying new ways of dealing with my current situation. Who knows, maybe someone else will be helped one day by the words I write. At the very least, this Blog will be a record of the incredible journey I must now take as a single parent.

  1. You're awesome for starting a blog - and actually writing in it! I've started one twice, but hardly ever wrote a word. I loved it. It makes me want to go write in my own! Happy Birthday!

  4. Your profile picture is absolutely breathtaking!
It exuberates the strength and determination that you have to heal, continue to love, & to move on.

You are SUCH a good momma and someday you will reap the rewards for that in itself if not already!

I admire all that you are doing and hope to be half as strong as you.

I am very blessed to have you in my life and to be called your friend.

In my prayers everyday with much love,
    Winnie
