A Turning Point

Yesterday marked a turning point in my journey. The man I thought was the love of my life "officially" filed to divorce me. It is the end of our life together. It has been three months since I heard the fateful words that have forever changed mine and Nekoda's life. Through this journey I have experienced the stages of denial, bargaining, anger and depression. Anger has been the most prominent of these emotions...until now. My next step is acceptance. I no longer want to hold on to the anger and bitterness that turns me into someone I don't respect or recognize. I want to be able to teach my child that through faith and perseverance we can overcome the pain life throws at us. I will no longer be defined by my pain...my loss...or my illness. I am a loving mother...devoted friend...and compassionate person. One day I will be healed by the grace of God and through the passing of time. Over the next few days, I will be thinking of a new title for my blog; one that exhibits strength and peace. In addition, I am attempting to thank God for all of the blessings in my life everyday upon waking up to my day ahead. My pastor has stated this need as well as the idea to acknowledge your decisions EVERYDAY. My decisions for each and everyday will be to faithfully seek God, be the best mother I can for Nekoda, work towards my goal of becoming a licensed therapist and look for ways to show love to others.
